GIRA & DEBATIR PARA CONSTRUIR

By establishing and leading innovative partnerships with the Georgetown International Relations Association (GIRA), which enhanced the international affairs education CACMUN offers and broadened the model’s international perspective. The secretariat, along with GIRA students, have hosted valuable training sessions and leadership workshops for presidents and delegates. This year the alliance is working toward a wider purpose – granting scholarships for low-income students from Fundación Ana Restrepo and Colegio Casfa to participate in CACMUN, as well as GIRA workshops. For the secretariat has been important as we engage in improving Colombia’s educational gap through our passion: debate. We strive to magnify the magic of CACMUN and foster new voices and minds in our community

GIRA

In order to broaden the model’s international perspective an innovative partnership with the Georgetown International Relations Association (GIRA) was established. The support of such organization, \will enhance the international affairs education CACMUN offers and be materialized both within the model but also in the preparatory phase. A combined effort from the secretariat, along with GIRA students, has enabled the hosting of valuable training sessions and leadership workshops for presidents and delegates. This being a tool to ensure that all participants are ready to tackle the model and have vigorous bases upon which to grow from. Such alliance then strives towards a wider and transcendental purpose - granting scholarships for low-income students from Colegio CASFA to participate in CACMUN, as well as GIRA workshops. In addition, within CACMUN, GIRA members will personally assist the model and provide interest-based topic seminars. The cumulative effect  of the previously mentioned opportunities will signify a better preparation and increasing availability of resources. All with the bigger purpose of shaping your experience rich in knowledge and with diverse tools, that transcend the traditional preparations.

Debatir para Construir

As a Secretariat, we believe and enforce that the mission of molding inclusivity within the model should branch out into all areas. Therefore, this year for the first time, a pilot model of scholarships for participation in CACMUN was created and put into motion. A total of 20 scholarships were granted to students from Colegio Anexo San Francisco de Asís (CASFA), who have shown talent and interest upon MUN topics; these scholarships cover all economic and logistical necessities for the model. On an internal level, the Secretariat and President teams have prepared and built a commitment towards creating an inclusive and safe environment for these students. Furthermore, it is the multiple backgrounds and identities that CACMUN delegates provide as a group, which enables an infinite diversity of perspectives to flourish upon our grounds and within our passion: debate. The legacy we strive to build, is one which makes CACMUN an opportunity that transcends barriers and can be enjoyed thoroughly by all. Precisely such hope, stemming from the values our model fosters, which motors the efforts made by all members of the CACMUN model during the pilot scholarship program.
